Compress PDF
Shrink a PDF's file size by recompressing its embedded images. Text and layout are untouched.
Frequently asked questions
What actually gets compressed?
Embedded JPEG photos are recompressed at the quality level you choose, and any uncompressed internal data is compressed losslessly. Text, fonts and vector graphics are never touched, so text stays crisp.
Why didn't my file shrink much?
PDFs that are mostly text, or that don't contain photos, have little left to compress this way: text-heavy PDFs are usually already small. Image-heavy PDFs (scans, photo-based flyers) see the biggest reduction.
